Jean Cooper Rose

Jean’s practice encompasses products liability, class actions, antitrust and commercial litigation.

Before joining Condon & Forsyth in 2001, Jean practiced as in-house counsel to a national insurance company handling general liability litigation and subrogation matters.

Jean has a background in business and international taxation, representing and counseling financial institutions and leasing companies in federal and state tax audits and has conducted tax planning for global financial institutions.

She was a Staff Member of the Brooklyn Law School International Law Journal and served as an Adjunct Legal Writing Professor.

She is a member of The American Bar Association (ABA Litigation Section subcommittees: Aviation Litigation, Tort and Insurance Practice and Antitrust Litigation) and The Federal Bar Council. She is also a member of IAWA (International Aviation Womens Association) and the New York Women’s Bar Association.

In January 2016, Jean was nominated to the Board of Directors for the New York chapter of the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law.  As secretary to this nonprofit association, Jean will be assisting with the programming of lecture series and panels as well as advance the other Coalition initiatives including networking, professional development and community outreach activities.

Experience

During her legal career Jean has represented and counseled domestic and foreign airline carriers, commercial transportation firms, manufacturers, and insurance companies in cases involving wrongful death, personal injury, cargo claims, premises liability, subrogation matters, antitrust and contract disputes.

As a trial and appellate attorney, Jean has significant experience in litigating cases in both state and federal courts. Some of her most recent work includes:

  • Representing an international airline carrier in two antitrust class actions lawsuit involving an alleged global price-fixing conspiracy.
  • Representation of an international aviation organization to develop an antitrust compliance manual and program for members.
  • Representation of an international airline carrier in general litigation throughout the United States.
  • Representation of a manufacturer of forklifts in products liability litigation.
  • Representation of an international airline carrier in  an antitrust case on appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
