Condon & Forsyth LLP was founded as a specialist aviation law firm in 1935 in New York City by the late Cyril Hyde Condon O.B.E. and James C. Forsyth.

One of the firm’s principal clients at the time was Imperial Airways, Ltd., the predecessor to BOAC and later British Airways.  Cy Condon was one of the leaders of the aviation bar in the United States and was instrumental in obtaining for Imperial Airways the first Foreign Air Carrier Permit issued to a foreign airline by the United States.  He remained principal outside counsel to BOAC and British Airways until his retirement.  British Airways is still a client of the firm.

Our firm has expanded over the past eighty-six years and now has more than fifty lawyers in our New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Sacramento and Seattle offices.  We are the oldest and largest specialist aviation law firm in the United States with a varied practice that includes mass tort, product liability, insurance, class actions, secured transactions and regulatory matters.  Collectively, our eighteen partners have more than 400 years of experience litigating aviation cases involving issues of treaty interpretation and foreign sovereign immunity.  No law firm in the United States possesses such a breadth of experience and talent in this specialty.
