James J. Burke

James works on all aspects of corporate transactions and commercial litigation matters.

James’ practice includes corporate transactions and commercial litigation for clients in aviation, banking, finance, real estate, and other industries. His experience includes contract disputes, business torts, employment agreements, corporate governance, compliance matters, acquisitions, and other financial and commercial transactions, and in litigation at both the state and federal level.

Prior to joining the firm, James worked as a litigation attorney focusing on commercial, products liability, and multi-district litigation and corporate matters concerning Fortune 100 clients. James also previously worked in the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, Division of Examinations, where he assisted with the examination of registrants to ensure full and fair disclosure of information for new securities, including Rule 10b-5 violations, under the Securities Act of 1933 and to regulate trading of securities under the Securities Act of 1934; as well as reviewing filings for compliance of the marketing rule (Rule 206(4)-1) under the Investment Company Act of 1940.

James is a graduate of Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, where he was Managing Editor of the Villanova Environmental Law Journal. Before graduating, James authored a published Comment about reframing the “Hard Look” Doctrine, which analyzed the role of administrative rulemaking across federal agencies tasked with scientific and environmental policy issues. During law school, James served as a Judicial Clerk for the Hon. Denis P. Cohen in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas.
